Owners of Purple Cafe to Open New Woodinville Restaurant

The owners of Woodinville's Purple Café and Wine Bar are leasing the space formerly held by Tully's Coffee for a new casual restaurant with local wine, beer and spirits, according to a news release from Seattle-based restaurateurs Heavy Restaurant Group.

They are adding the new restaurant to their roster of locations throughout Seattle, Kirkland, Bellevue and Woodinville. The owners of Purple Café and Wine Bar, Barrio Mexican Kitchen and Bar, Lot No. 3, and Cast Iron Studios, have signed the lease on the new location in Hollywood Vineyards in Woodinville with plans to open in spring 2013.

The vision for the restaurant is that of a casual community hub with a relaxed vibe where locals can stop in for a cup of coffee, friends can meet to grab a quick bite to eat, and visitors can enjoy a casual dinner after a day of winetasting.

Located at 14479 Woodinville Redmond Road, the new space is in the same shopping center where Heavy Restaurant Group opened the first Purple Café and Wine Bar in 2001.

“Woodinville is where it all started and now, 11 years later, we’re coming full circle,” said Larry Kurofsky, owner of Heavy Restaurant Group in the news release. “We are thrilled to bring our newest concept back to the community that we know so well. Woodinville has been great to us and this is the perfect location for us to introduce something new and special, a true neighborhood hangout.”

The Space

The 2,800 square feet of open space will be filled with a range of seating areas to accommodate diners of all types. Seating will include long communal tables for large dinner parties, bar and counter seating, and cozy corners to read a book or catch up with friends. During the warm summer months, diners will also be able to take advantage of the café’s patio and deck seating. 

The Food

The new location will feature a self-service-style counter that will offer everything from espresso and breakfast sandwiches, to lunch salads, sandwiches, and dinner. Those on the run can grab a meal to go, or hangout and relax with a glass of wine, beer, or cocktail.

Drawing inspiration from Woodinville’s local wineries and breweries, the bar will feature a wide variety of beer and wine as well as spirits from Woodinville’s burgeoning craft-distillery community.

“More and more local distilleries are popping up in the Pacific Northwest,” said Kurofsky. “Of course, being in Woodinville we want to highlight local beer and wine, but our fabulous local spirits are worthy of showcasing as well, and that’s not something you find often in the area.”
