UPDATE Woodinville Museum Civil War Re-Enactment

Update: June 14, 10 a.m.--Just heard back from the Heritage Society, it's not a re-enactment it's a talk by Bruce Smith and his wife who are booth re-enactors about what it's like to participate in a re-enactment.

A special Civil War Re-Enactment program by Woodinville resident Bruce Smith will be presented at the on Saturday, June 23, at 10 a.m.

Beginning this month, the museum will also offer a special exhibit highlighting at least eight general stores that served Woodinville-area residents from 1880 onward. These include the Neilsen, Teegarden, Hollywood, Homestead, Miller, DeYoung, Mack, Hinman and Rongve stores. Photos and artifacts will be on display.

Also on display are laminated Woodinville-area maps from 1908 and the 1930s, 1950s and 1970s. Viewers can see how their current properties looked during those eras. Other rooms offer special exhibits that will change regularly throughout the summer and early fall. Including quilts made by Woodinville pioneer Susan Woodin and other early quilters.

The museum is open every Sunday from 1-4 p.m. through Labor Day weekend in September. The museum is housed in the DeYoung House, featuring furnishings that date to the 1930s and earlier. The house was built on Woodinville's main street in 1931 and was occupied by John and Ellen DeYoung and their six children for 30-plus years. The house was moved in 1973 to its present location at 14121 NE 171st St.
