Historians are undecided on when or why Friday the 13^th is considered an unlucky day, probably an joining of existing superstitions that the number 13 is unlucky as are Fridays (Fridays unlucky? What about TGIF?). This year the dreaded-by-some day (friggatriskaidekaphobia, Frigga is the name of the Norse goddess for whom "Friday" is named and triskaidekaphobia meaning fear of the number thirteen) occurs in January (this Friday), April and July.
