Har Ki Pauri

Established by king Vikramditya in the first century in the respect of his brother Brithari, Har ki Pauri is the central attraction of the divine city of Haridwar. It is believed that lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu has visited this holy place in the Vedic era. Therefore, a footstep believed to be a part of god Vishnu on one of the stone walls.

Devotees can get a celestial experience by attending the evening Aarti carried out by priests on the banks of River Ganga. In addition, they can relish the aura of lights and various Diyas(Lamps) floating down the river, creating a splendid ambience like nowhere. It is strongly believed that anyone taking a dip in the pure water of river Ganga would definitely get rid of the sins committed in one’s lifetime.

Mansa Devi Temple

Located on the top of Bilwa Parvat in the holy city of Haridwar in the Uttarakhand state of India, Mansa Devi Temple is devoted to deity Mansa Devi, easily accessible on foot. It is said that a person visiting this place don’t get disappointed, as the prayers are always heard. And, whenever the wish gets fulfilled an individual has to come back to this temple to unfasten the thread tied around the tree standing proudly within the premises. Mostly people in ecstasy are found doling out the sweets among the beggars.

Sapt Rishi Ashram

One of the most famous ashrams of Haridwar- “Sapt Rishi Ashram”, situated barely any miles away from Har ki Pauri. Vashisht, Atri, Jamadagi, Gautam, Bharadwaia, Kashyapa and Vishwamitra are the seven sages who believed to meditate at this ancient ashram.

Chanda Devi Temple

Founded by Suchat Singh in 1929 on the eastern summit of Sivalik hills, Chanda Devi Temple is highly visited by devotees from all around the world to seek blessings from goddess Chanda Devi. There are two ways to reach the temple one is by taking a ropeway ride and the other is climbing the steps that would take about 45 minutes.

How to get to Haridwar

Tourists can make to Haridwar in 4 hours by train and 6 hours by road from Delhi. Moreover, the folks looking to reach this by air can get down at Dehradun, which is the nearest airport, just 25 miles from Haridwar.

When one should pay a visit to Haridwar

The best time to arrive at Haridwar is between October and March. Though the Ganges remains revitalizing and cool in the summers, but the temperature drops to104 degrees Fahrenheit.
