In today’s world, technology has become the center of development. The most popular technology that greatly helped people comes in the form of mobile phones. Having a mobile phone allows a user to access everything from bank accounts, personal transactions and other online matters that one could think of. This is probably one of the most useful functions of having a cellular phone. However, one downside is, just like the computer, cell phones are faced with security challenges.

Just think of the cellular phone as a mini computer, it is also a very powerful tool, allowing users to have the option to access their personal accounts and transactions wirelessly, easily and during their personal, available time. This sole purpose has effectively and efficiently helped people’s lives and daily routines become a lot easier. Cell phones are of personal use, therefore they contain personal information. Information like these need to be secured and kept confidential. This is the main problem that cell phone users usually face, with all the viruses that are emerging, users would always chance upon viruses which are capable of entering their mobiles’ operating systems’ and hacking their information. The good news is, there are a lot of newly developed antivirus software that keep up with the latest technology and developments.

Issues and Challenges with Mobile Security

Ineffective Security Patch Distribution

The most notable problem that mobile operating systems usually suffer from is the delay in the issuance of the frequency security patch distribution. The security patches that are typically released are sub-standard and are of second-rate quality, these patches are not enough to work successfully. Moreover, the time it takes by the phone manufacturer to release a security patch when needed greatly affects the speed of the security system to respond. This puts the overall security of the system at risk.

Downloading Mobile Applications from Unreliable Sources

Latest cellular phone models are Wi-Fi capable and have the feature to download applications from the app store. Users have grown very fond of these applications; however, there is still the risk of getting a virus by just downloading a single infected application. Make sure that the applications that are being downloaded are from a reliable source. During the process of downloading applications, a reliable source will authenticate the device and a user’s personal information is required. Furthermore, only provide your personal information if the application matches the information of the supplier.

Emergence of New Viruses

Before, cellular phones weren’t targets of virus attacks. Viruses were known to attack computer systems only, but with the developments of cellular phones acting like mini computers, they can now be infected as well. Some viruses are the FakeInst, SMS Trojan, SMSZombie, NotCompatible, Android.Bmaster and LuckyCat.

Protecting Your Mobile Phone

Protecting mobile phones are no longer a worry since there are antivirus software available that are especially designed for mobile phones. Keep in mind that, when in choosing among the different antivirus software, always goes for those which provide cloud antivirus protection.
