Eric Erickson, Logging and Railroad Historian, Author, Past president Issaquah History Museums


Join Eric Erickson, a recognized logging, sawmill, and railroad historian, as he describes the process of logging old growth trees that still grew in the Union Hill area east of Redmond in the 1920’s.  He will also cover how Siler Logging Company built a special 25 mile railroad to transport the logs north.  Learn about the building of the railroad, the types of railroad and logging equipment then in use and why the company’s operations eventually ended.

Mingle with fellow history buffs at the Redmond Historical Society Saturday Speaker Series, a monthly program that features eight speakers addressing topics of local, state and Pacific Northwest historical interest. The series is held on the second Saturday of each month from September to May (no December program).
