Removing active posts from the front page is a bad idea

I guess if you really want to die, removing the active posts from the home page is a good way to hasten the demise.
As I wrote to the Patch owners (AOL) before, you guys just don't get it. You are NOT a news site per se. Imagine that.

Boooo. We're NOT removing anything. It sounds like you have a beef with the folks that designed the new homepage. Feel free to shoot them an email again and voice your displeasure. They do listen to your concerns: Support@patch.com. Kind Regards, Kendall Watson, Editor, Sammamish-Issaquah Patch & Mercer Island Patch

Hi Gail. No one has removed that post, it just moves down lower on the page or off the home page when newer news is posted. That said, I have now pinned it to the homepage. Scroll down and you should see it. Thanks!

Here's the link to the "active" post which has 43 comments as of Friday morning - http://woodinville.patch.com/groups/opinion/p/sammamish-valley-farmland-at-risk-again

Gail - don't be such a grouch. We are a community and you can get what you asked for by asking politely or making suggestions in a respectful manner.
Gail September 06, 2013 at 01:56 PM
Pay attention - especially those that think I'm a "grouch" funny that. Please read more carefully. Hint - I think you can take your OWN advice Kat by not calling people names and be "respectful" before you jump. Amazing how people don't see their own reflection. To continue: Sure, it's back NOW, but trust me, it was gone for several hours or perhaps all day (I didn't track - sorry for not staring at it longer). What happened was that ALL the posts (note the -plural- Lisa) that show up on the home page were REMOVED. Nothing there at all. Empty space. Now do you get it? Just like they did the first time they switched to the "new" format that helped kill the Patch concept. So I thought that some brain gas did it again. FWIW I did write to the Patch after they switched and told them what a dumb design they just created. Even now it suffers from poor coding. Since it's still not known if any of the local versions will survive in another life - ATM writing to AOL is hardly a worthwhile effort now that they've decided to abandon the ship.

Sounds like you had a technical issue, Gail, and regrets for that. For anyone who is looking for home-page stories that have moved down off the home page, click the Top News tab to see everything that's been on the home page, please, or try the search box with keywords.

Then Gail and I suffer from the same "technical issue" as I too observed a period in time where all the comment posts disappeared...
Local Guy September 06, 2013 at 05:41 PM
Speaking of "technical issues", your clock is not set to correct time Jeanne...

Looks like the prior removal of front page posts was a test. It is again gone once again. Like shoveling dirt on top of a grave. (Ran into this by accident trying to see what was going on.)
