Bike Date on the Sammamish River Trail

A no cost date that doubles as exercise.

Why didn't we go to a restaurant this time? We wanted to do something different. And, since we're working on getting more fit and healthy, what could be more perfect than a bike ride together?

When we got home from church on Sunday, we changed into casual clothes and headed out the door to the bike trail Hubby picked.

We started out on the trail along Overlake Community Church's parking lot in Redmond. After a few twists and turns, we were on the Sammamish River trail headed toward Redmond's Marymoor Park.Β

The weather was slightly overcast and warm, which was nice. Families strolled by peacefully and children played in the Sammamish River.

Hubby biked in front of me and I trailed close behind. We could have biked side-by-side but spandex clad speed bikers and slow-moving families did not allow enough room. Oh well, it was still nice that we were on the same journey together.

On our way we passed kids selling lemonade (darn, my biking clothes didn't have any pockets for change), a flock of geese barely missing our heads after taking flight from the river, and acres of ripe blackberry bushes.

"Wanna stop and pick some berries?" Hubby sounded like a five-year old kid in a candy store.

"Babe, we don't have bags."

"Oh, yeah."

"We could use your pockets," I joked.

It wasn't long before we cruised into Marymoor Park. Hubby reminded me that the last time we were there was to attend an Alison Krauss concert six or seven years ago. I didn't realize it had been that long.
