UPDATE: CONTRIBUTE: What’s Flooded in Woodinville?

After the temperatures warmed up last night, and the wind stirred, floods and fallen trees created road hazards.

Update: 12:40 p.m. Jan. 21, the traffic light is still out at 156th Ave. NE and NE Woodinville-Duvall Road causing a backup all the way to 182nd. Main roads are clear throughout the area. King County has reopened the two roads in Duvall and Carnation that were closed earlier this morning. Most businesses are open, but it's tough to find a parking space at any shopping center with a grocery store (including Trader Joes in Redmond and Totem Lake).

Original Story:

Some areas of Woodinville and surrounding areas are already reporting flooding, with businesses and roads having to close. Better off Threads had to cancel a sale scheduled for today and close up shop because of flooding. King County has listed the following roads closed due to flooding or fallen trees blocking traffic as of 9 a.m.:

The National Weather Service advisories issued Friday night are still in effect: Wind and flood advisories for most of Western Washington Friday night until 3:30 p.m. Saturday. According to the advisory, “Together with melting snow over the lowlands...expect ponding of water on roads and in neighborhoods. Storm water will pool in the snow cover before eventually melting and running off. In addition the snow cover and ice could be blocking storm drains and/or culverts which could also result in excessive ponding of water or cause small stream to overflow their banks.”

The service also reminds drivers to not try and drive through flooded roadways. "Do not underestimate the power of flood waters. Only a few inches of water can cause you to lose control of your vehicle...and just a few inches of flowing water can carry away your vehicle."
