From Claire Thomas, the Root Connection’s Operating Manager:
“An important difference about buying plant starts from us is that we don't use a "hot" greenhouse. We use no artificial heat at all, or growth stimulants. In fact the varieties of plants we have available for sale as starts are the same ones we plant out in the fields. Growing starts without artificial inputs produces a plant that will perform better in NW gardens. Also, we put out the starts at the same time we plant in the field, in other words, if the soil temps are too cold to plant beans or basil, we will not have it in the outdoor nursery.”
