Five Things You Need Know Today: Jan. 15

Annual stinky spoke and a distillery tasting room.

  1. Come check out the Stinky Spoke mountain bike loop that starts and ends at Redhook Brewery, 14300 Northeast 145th St. It is a 16 to 18.5 mile mountain bike poker run where riders try to collect five cards in hopes of having a good enough hand for a prize at the end. To add to the event, it is intentionally held on what is traditionally the worst weather day of the year. Event starts at 3:45 p.m. and all proceeds from the event go to the Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center. For info and registration check here
  2. Did you know that Woodinville has distilleries with tasting rooms in addition to wineries? Taste some amazing vodka to rival top shelf brands at the Project V distillery, 19495 144th Ave. NE, Suite A--130,  open noon - 4 p.m. You can also call to set up tastings at 425-398-1738. Tastings are free and bottles are available for $29. While you’re there, tour the surrounding winery tasting rooms.
  3. in Woodinville is hosting  No Name-Calling Storytime at 11 a.m. The event is geared towards 3- to 5- year olds to help teach the importance of being a friend and deal with bullies through stories and activities.
  4.  , 13625 Northeast 175th St., is hosting two events today, both are free: 
    • Seminar: “The Therapeutic Benefits of Indoor Plants” presented by Jenn Dazey, ND from Bastyr University at 10 a.m. Learn how indoor plants can benefit your health from stress reduction to easing depression.
    • Informal Q & A: “Success with Indoor Succulents” featuring Carolyn Smart, indoor plant expert. Come and learn how to care for indoor succulents and how to use them throughout the home, at noon.
  5. Hollywood Hill Vineyards, 14350 160th Pine, is hosting “Spotlight on ‘Mourvedre’ with Joel Butler, MW” tonight from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at their Tasting House. Event is $25 prepaid and for members, $30 at the door.
