Why Go: Seatttle based band Swamp Soul plays Cajun and Zydeco dance music that’ll get toes tappin and fingers snappin. Laissez les bons temps rouler! When the band takes a break there’s plenty of good browsing at Third Place Books.

Why Go:  Nothing says summer quite like the sound of an old-time fiddle. OK, some sunshine probably wouldn't hurt, either. Hopefully both will be present at this Friday’s Arts in the Parks performance, which features the sounds of The Tallboys, a Seattle-based old time string band. Cool Carnivorous Plants

Where/When:  1 p.m. Saturday at , 13625 NE 175th St, Woodinville

Why Go: Who doesn’t want to sit around with an expert and talk about meat eating plants? Jerry Addington from Courting Frogs Nursery will talk about the unusual world of insect eating plants. The talk is geared toward children but all ages are welcome.

RAC to Redhook Fitness Run

Where/When: 10 a.m. Sunday at the 

Why Go: Who doesn't love finishing up a good workout with an even better meal? The RAC to Redhook Fitness Run combines the best of both worlds by guiding participants on a flat, 4.5-mile run from RAC to Redhook Brewery in Woodinville. The event includes fun fitness challenges at each mile marker, and all proceeds benefit Hopelink.

AVATAR: The Exhibition at EMP

Where/When: Now through Sept. 3, 2012 at the

Why Go: Blue humanoids! Costumes, props and video from the making of AVATAR are on display. Original sketches and story boards from the making of the movie. As close to actually going to Pandora as a fan can get.
