Green is the new black.
Several decades ago the First Lady’s fashion sense made the headlines; this week it’s Michelle Obama’s green thumb and the release of her new book, “American Grown: The story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America.”
Part autobiography and partly a gardening “how-to,” the book also serves as an inspiration for healthy living, according to an article in the Huffington Post. There’s even a section with healthy recipes for homegrown herbs and produce.
The book even has its own Facebook page.
While the White House garden gets all the attention, there are plenty of gardening efforts here in Woodinville, including the , , and several community gardens. The sells seeds and you can buy plants starts there and at as well as the nurseries.
