Pets of the Week: Dog Harley and Cat Winston Wyatt

This week in addition to our friends at Homeward Pet Adoption Center we introduce Purrfect Pals, a no-kill cat shelter and sanctuary based in Arlington with a satellite center in PetSmart.

Dog of the Week: Harley

Attention big dog fans! has a fantastic dog that is patiently waiting for a new home. His name is Harley, and he’s a six-year-old Lab/Rottweiler mix.

After living an outdoor life of depravity, he’s now looking forward to being a cherished member of the family like he deserves. He’d love nothing more than a big, cozy bed to slumber in, right next to his people.

Harley has an outgoing and friendly personality. He loves socializing and meeting new people, and he’s ready to bond with his new owner. He’ll show his affection by offering his trademark full body lean, and at 110 pounds, what a lean it is!

This strapping boy needs an owner who is accustomed to larger dogs and is able to handle a dog of his size. He’s working on leash manners and has shown great improvement. Harley is very eager to please, and he’s excited to take part in the training classes that are included with his adoption.

Although Harley has not met cats before, he is good with other dogs in general. He is most compatible with female dogs and larger breed dogs. Previously being an outside dog with few luxuries, Harley is understandably possessive of his food and cherished belongings. He needs someone who will be willing to work with him in this area, teaching him to trust and share. Because of his guarding behavior, we’re recommending that he be placed with older children over the age of 12-years-old.

If you are interested in this big, goofy guy, he’d love to meet you. Harley’s human friends are standing by ready to help make a great match. Please come visit him at Homeward if he seems like the dog for you!

With as many as 50 dogs and cats available at any given time and over 1,000 animals adopted out annually, Homeward Pet Adoption Center is one of the largest no-kill nonprofit companion animal shelters in the state.  All of the animals receive full medical and behavioral evaluations and our adoption staff is adept at working with people to ensure their new family member's successful transition into a permanent, loving home.

If you are not ready to adopt but would like to help care for our homeless animals by volunteering, go to www.homewardpet.org/volunteer.

Homeward is located in the north side of the Clearwater Spa Building at 18800 Woodinville-Snohomish Road. Adoption hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 12-6 p.m. Contact us at 425-488-4444 or on the web at www.homewardpet.org.

Cat of the Week: Winston Wyatt

Winston Wyatt is a cuddly 3-year-old male kitty whose family could no longer care for him when they recently lost their home. Winston has a sweet disposition and loves to be held, sit on a lap and vigorously purrs in great appreciation. He would be a great companion! While initially a little shy, it only takes a minute for him to warm up to visitors. Winston Wyatt would probably do best in a home with older children. He can be found at the Purrfect Pals adoption center in the Woodinville. All Purrfect Pals kitties and kittens have been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and they have been tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia. For more information, please contact Julie at 206-948-5175.

Purrfect Pals is a no-kill cat shelter and sanctuary based in Arlington. Because of our rural location, Purrfect Pals has pioneered off-site adoption events and placement of cats in partner pet stores. In the early years we placed just a few dozen cats every year, but now we've grown to the point where we place more than 2,500 cats every year through our shelter and more than 20 off-site locations across Puget Sound. Purrfect Pals is currently the world's largest cat-only adoption organization and sanctuary.
