Puget Sound Energy Tries Enhanced Tree Trimming in Duvall to Curb Power Outages

This week, Puget Sound Energy began implementing an enhanced tree pruning method, also known as “lines to sky trimming,” along power lines in Duvall – an area prone to tree-related power outages.

This week, Puget Sound Energy began implementing an enhanced tree pruning method along power lines in Duvall – an area prone to tree-related power outages, according to a post on their Facebook page.

While regular tree maintenance focuses primarily on pruning trees that grow under or into power lines, the enhanced pruning technique, also known as “lines to sky trimming,” involves removing all overhanging branches above the lines.

By applying this method of pruning in addition to their regular maintenance work in the area, PSE said in the post they hope to reduce tree-related outages and improve electric service reliability for customers.

Trees are the leading cause of power outages for PSE customers, as people who live in Woodinville likely already know. Work on this project is expected to run through July, so motorists are asked to use caution when driving in the Duvall area.

For more information about this enhanced pruning project, and to see a map of exactly where the work is taking place, click here.

Would you like to see them use this technique around some of the Woodinville power lines? Tell us in comments.

I'm glad PSE is taking a pro-active view of power grid maintenance. As for most things I'm sure it costs less in the long run to trim than to fix. I wish the phone company had the same philosophy. We have called on trees leaning against phone lines and were told to call back when the lines came down. Not far from our house there is a phone cable that has had a tree trunk grow around it!
Kudos to PSE! Keep up the good work!

Hello Mr. Francois and NSD School Board, I have been keeping an open mind about the choice ofRead More Wednesday as the early release day. I kept an open mind, but not so open that my brains fell out. I voted for Friday for a reason. Not to take my child out of school early or in hopes that teachers would see it as a day off, but because it made the most sense for my family. Wednesday wasn't a horrible day and was my 2nd choice. Personally, now, after reviewing others input, your input and doing some thinking on my own, I believe you made the wrong choice. Your parents have brains, we are educated and we gave you our opinion and trusted that you would actually use the poll data wisely. You failed us, therefore you failed our children. It is okay so say you made a mistake, that is what we teach our children. Please tell your parents you made a mistake and make Friday early release day for the new school year. Positively hopeful! I have lived in Woodinville for over18 years. For around 5 years after we moved there on any warmRead More summer night you could look up and see at least 3 balloons and many times 4,5,6 or 7 of them but that all stopped abruptly one year. The explanation we got was that the balloonist were following the French historical practice of awarding a bottle of champagne to any land owner who's land they happened to land on. Well, the state couldn't allow that since the balloonist had no liquor license. Don't you just love government?
