Redhook Wins Silver, Bronze at First-Ever Washington Beer Awards

More than 400 beers from nearly 70 Washington breweries were judged in the contest.

Woodinville's Redhook Brewery took home two medals in the first-ever Washington Beer Awards.

The winning breweries were announced Saturday at the Washington Brewers Festival in Redmond. More than 400 beers from nearly 70 Washington breweries were evaluated by 40 judges in a blind taste test, held May 18 at Elliott Bay Public House & Brewery in Seattle.

Redhook's No Equal amber lager won silver in the Amber & Dark Lagers category, and Wise Cracker Wit received a bronze medal among Spice, Herb and Vegetable Beers.

Black Raven Brewing in nearby Redmond was named Large Brewery of the Year and also won medals for several of its brews.
