Tabitha, an Australian Cattle Dog Looking for a Home

A bouncy two-year-old looking for someone to adopt her.

Meet Tabitha, a beautiful purebred Australian Cattle Dog who is just over two-years old.  She is calling Homeward Pet Adoption her temporary home after being rescued in the nick of time from a local shelter. Now safe and among friends, she patiently waits for her new owner to discover her.

Tabitha is delighted to be featured as Pet of the Week, because she’s a special dog who just needs to meet the right person. As one of our most athletic and energetic residents, she’s seeking someone who can provide her with ample physical exercise and mental stimulation. Tabitha sports an impressive knowledge of commands, and would be an excellent candidate for continued training and agility classes. She would like her new owner to possess knowledge of her breed and have previous dog experience. Life with Cattle Dogs can be especially rewarding for those looking for an intelligent and active dog, however, challenges can arise if their needs are not met.

Tabitha is what we call an alpha female, so her ideal canine companion would be a well-mannered male dog. She is extremely people oriented, so she would not mind being the only dog in the household and soaking up all the attention for herself.  While Tabitha has been good with other dogs, she is not compatible with cats or other small animals. She’s always on the lookout for a furry critter to chase, and is very adept at chasing off pesky varmints! Tabitha loves to get out and run, so she will require a sizeable and securely fenced yard with her new home.  She’s always up for a good game of fetch or tug, and would love to be paired with kids who are over the age of 12 years old. Unlike most dogs, Tabitha has an aversion to vehicles, so she needs a patient owner to slowly work with her and teach her that car rides can be a very fun thing.

You’ll find that Tabitha has excellent house manners and faithfully follows her people wherever they go. She is very curious about his surroundings and likes to explore. When she’s not being pampered or walked by shelter volunteers, she keeps a keen eye on that shelter door, just waiting for her new people to find her.

Her human friends here at the shelter are standing by, ready to make a great match. Please contact Homeward Pet if you are interested in making Tabitha part of your home.
