The YMCA Invites Woodinville to Healthy Kids Day Saturday

Northshore YMCA is hosting a day of fun for family and kids to help promote healthy living.

Spring finally here and with it, eventually, nice weather. Let’s face it, most kids spend a good chunk of the winter months hunched in front of computer screens or sitting idle watching television.

The Northshore YMCA wants help kids kick-off the arrival of longer days and better weather with its Healthy Kids Day designed to celebrate healthy living.

Saturday the Y opens its doors in Bothell to anyone who wants to participate in the days activities.

Experts say school-age kids should engage in physical activities for at least one hour every day to be healthy. Studies show that almost two-thirds of our nation's youth are not getting the suggested amount of physical activity for good health. More than nine million children in the United States are either obese or overweight.

To help kids embrace a healthier lifestyle, every spring, the Y invites kids and families from the community to participate in Healthy Kids Day, a national event to promote youth health and wellness. This year’s event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will include games, snacks, activities and adventure completely free of charge for the entire family. There will also be face painting, healthy cooking demo's, a bake sale, archery, climbing tower, make n take art and balloon creations.
