Viewfinder: April Fools' Day Parade

The rain had the courtesy to wait until after the parade ended.

This year's April Fools' Day Parade, a 33-year tradition, was a splendid display of community programs, local business and agriculture all marching down the main street of Woodinville. The rain held off just long enough for the last of the participants to finish the parade route downtown. This year's grand marshall was Woodinville's first mayor, Lucy De Young, who also acted as one of the judges.

The parade started off by the police and fire departments followed by everything from the Cathcart Unicycle Club, to dancing horses. Though the Basset Hound Bash was canceled for this years festivities the Basset Brigade drew it's fair share of participants and attention for their furry four-legged friends.

People lined the parade route despite the cloudy gray skies as parade participants handed out balloons and candy to local residents. A high school group collected donations from Japan from onlookers as the Woodinville High School Marching Band trumpeted by followed by the students of Eastside Gymnastics flipping head-over-heel down the street.
