Viewfinder: Brightwater Treatment Plant's North Habitiat

Thought the plant was just waste pipes? Nope, there's a lovely restored native plant habitat adjacent to Brightwater.

Just north of the Brightwater Treatment facility lies 43 acres of rehabilitated wilderness. The area features meandering trails, ponds, a field house, garden, forest land and wetlands, all of which will be open to the community after the Grand Opening celebration on the September 24.

The gently sloping hills were created using displaced earth from the treatment side of the Brightwater facility, decreasing the amount of truck traffic to remove the dirt and stones to and from the site.

To see a map of the trails and features within the North Habitat click HERE. The habitat will be open from morning until dusk, and guests will be invited to take a look during the celebration.

While Patch was touring the area we were lucky enough to see some of the native wild life, including a fox, blue heron, and a hawk. Take a look for yourself and see what you see at the opening!
