WATCH: 'We Day Seattle' Inspires Local Students to Give Back and Make a Difference

Students, including those local schools, talked with Patch at We Day Seattle about how they're creating change through their community service efforts.

KeyArena burst with excitement as 15,000 students from 400 middle and high schools across the state celebrated community service and helping others at Wednesday’s We Day Seattle.

Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll and quite a few celebrities, from Jennifer Hudson to J.R. Martinez and Nelly Furtado, acknowledged the efforts of the students at the rock-concert-like youth empowerment event.

Carroll and Connie Ballmer of Ballmer Family Giving served as co-chairs for We Day Seattle.

“I liked how J.R. Martinez talked about how no one is actually normal,” said Kayla Arpin of Emerson K-12 school in Kirkland. “Everybody is normal in their own way.”

Patch was at the event and spoke with students from schools around Puget Sound. Watch the video to hear how they're making a difference and what inspires them.
