Woodinville Churches Join Together for an Evening of Song

The Northshore Interfaith Cluster of Religious Communities is holding its choir festival on Sunday.

The Northshore Interfaith Cluster of Religious Communities annual choir festival is Sunday, March 13 at 7 p.m.

This year, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 16500  124th Ave NE, is hosting the event and six Woodinville church choirs are performing. The evening will include traditional hymns, contemporary religious songs and secular music.

“We all do two to three songs from our belief system,” said Leasa Dingle, organizer of this year’s event and a member of the Mormon faith. “We do have different theologies, but we come together for the good of our community. We find we have more in common than not.”

Each church’s choir has its own director for the individual songs of its faith. At the end of the evening all the choirs will join together for two songs, creating a group of 140 people. Those final songs will be directed by Dennis Kruse who is the choir master at Wooden Cross Lutheran Church. The festival started in 2002 and every year a different church hosts the event.

“We want everyone who comes to feel respected and that it’s a safe place to be,” Leasa said. “You learn so much from each other.”
