Update Jan. 31: The Amaluna crew arrived in Redmond last week and more than 60 men and women worked for several hours to "pound pegs, hoist more than 100 support poles, unfurl the canvas, and raise the roof of Amaluna's Big Top in Marymoor Park," according to a post on the Amaluna Facebook page.
Our amazing group of technicians, site crew and administrative staff works for 8 days to totally load in and set up the Big Top, which includes the installation of entrance, hospitality and rehearsal tents, box office, administrative offices and kitchen. Now that we are officially up in Marymoor Park we are looking forward to meeting you Seattle (and your surrounding areas ;) ---Amaluna post on Facebook.

Amaluna, the story about a mysterious island governed by Goddesses, is coming to Redmond's Marymoor Park at the end of the month. The production runs from Jan. 31 - March 17.
The story according to the international Cirque du Soleil entertainment conglomerate's Amaluna website:
Their queen, Prospera, directs her daughter’s coming-of-age ceremony in a rite that honours femininity, renewal, rebirth and balance which marks the passing of these insights and values from one generation to the next.
In the wake of a storm caused by Prospera, a group of young men lands on the island, triggering an epic, emotional story of love between Prospera’s daughter and a brave young suitor. But theirs is a love that will be put to the test. The couple must face numerous demanding trials and overcome daunting setbacks before they can achieve mutual trust, faith and harmony.
Amaluna is directed by Diane Paulus, whose Broadway works include The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess and a Tony Award-winning revival of HAIR.

Last winter, Cirque co-founder Normand Latourelle brought his lavish equestrian-themed productionCavalia to Marymoor. The show was so successful that organizers extended its end date three times.
