Elliott Bay Pipe Band Playing at Cottage Lake Thursday

Weather permitting, the band will play as part of the Summer Concert Series.

The sound of bagpipes will fill the air on Thursday at Cottage Lake Park with the Elliott Bay Pipe Band.

The Elliott Bay Pipe Band has established itself as one of the most successful pipe bands in the Pacific Northwest, traveling twice to Scotland participate in competition.

Under the musical leadership of Pipe Major Tyrone Heade, Elliott Bay draws adult and youth musicians from all over the greater Puget Sound region. The band was formed in 1992 by Rod Weeks with nine of his piping students, none of whom belonged to existing pipe bands. Later that same year, drummers were added to the mix, and a pipe band was born.
