Lots of holiday celebrations this weekend in Woodinville, Redmond, Kirkland and Bellevue.

  • Why Go: Come shop locally for beautiful one-of-a-kind holiday and gift goods and crafts. All proceeds benefit the Senior Class of WHS.
  • Pricing: Free.

  • Where/When: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Sunday at .
  • Why Go: Join the Northwest's first professional Christian ballet company, Paradosi Ballet this Sunday as they tell the story of the birth of Christ through the beauty and power of ballet.
  • Pricing: Hosting this free event is Generations-Woodinville, a Foursquare Church. The public is invited to experience this amazing Christmas presentation.

  • Where/When: 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday in .
  • Why Go: Washington wine lovers are invited to enjoy a festive assortment of special wine tastings, holiday entertainment and gift ideas at more than 30 participating Woodinville wineries. 
  • Pricing: Tickets are available through woodinvillewinecountry.com.. $55 for two-day pass or $40 for Sunday only.

  • Where/When: 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Redmond High School Performing Arts Center.
  • Why Go: Join the Woodinville Community Band for a mix of classical and holiday music in this unique concert. The concert will feature many of your favorites including Holst, Gould, Ticheli, Reineke, and more. Enjoy the show!
  • Pricing: Admission is free. Donations are accepted.

  • Where/When: 4 p.m. on Sat, Dec, 3 at Bellevue Galleria.
  • Why Go: Start the holiday celebration in Belleuve with Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony at Bellevue Galleria. This year's tree lighting event will feature live musical performances by local schools and organizations, including Clyde Hill Elementary, Eastgate Elementary and more. Festivities start at 4pm with the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at 5:30pm.
  • Pricing: Free.

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday at in Bellevue.
  • Why Go: The annual Hilltop Holiday Craft Show is the place to go for all your unique, one-of-a-kind holiday gifts. Visit the Northwest Arts Center anytime through Saturday and browse the thousands of handmade works from more than 80 selected Northwest crafters.
  • Pricing: Admission is free.

  • Where/When: Daily through Jan. 8 at in Bellevue. Visit www.magicseason.com for Ice Arena hours.
  • Why Go: Dust off those ice skates and head down to the Downtown Park in Bellevue and try your hand at some ice skating fun.
  • Pricing: Admission is $10 (includes skate rental).

  •  Where/When: 7 p.m. on Sat, Dec. 3 at .
  • Why Go: Join the Whitworth Choir, the Whitworth Women's Choir, the Whitworth Men's Chorus, and the Whitworth Chamber Singers for the 2011 Whitworth University Christmas Festival Concert, Arise, Shine! More than 130 student performers will include members of the four choirs, as well as student-instrumentalists and narrators.
  • Pricing: Tickets: $18 general admission, $15 for students and seniors 62 and older. Tickets may be purchased by calling (800) 532-4668 or online at www.whitworth.edu/musictickets. A limited number of tickets may also be available for purchase at the door prior to each concert.

  • Where/When: 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday at .
  • Why Go: Merrill Gardens at Kirkland will celebrate the holiday season this year with a free Holiday Music Festival, featuring live music throughout the month of December. This weekend’s featured performances will be The Wulff Duo on Saturday and Lake Washington Music Assoc. Band on Sunday.
  • Pricing: All concerts are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

  • Where/When: 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Sun, Dec. 4 at the .
  • Why Go: Let Bronn and Katherine Journey help you get into the holiday spirit during their 30th Annual Christmas Concert this Sunday at the KPC. Check out this Youtube clip OHoly Night performed by Bronn and Katherine Journey so you’ll know what you’re in for. Enjoy the show!
  • Pricing: Tickets are $24.

  • Where/When: 2 p.m. on Sun, Dec. 4 at Bastyr University Chapel in Kirland.
  • Why Go: Join the Kirkland Choral Society this Sunday as they welcome the holidays with a concert celebrating the glory of the season and a universal dream of peace. The concert will feature carols, audience sing-a-longs, and a toe-tapping, bluegrass-flavored finale.
  • Pricing: Tickets: Adults: $18; Students/Senior: $12.

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at in Kirkland.
  • Why Go: Bring your pets, family and yourself out to Dooley’s this weekend and get your holiday Christmas photo’s taken with Santa. Your $20 suggested donation includes a 5X7 of your choice. Other sizes and holiday cards can also be ordered.
  • Pricing: All proceeds benefit Pasado Safe Haven. Sign up at the store or call (425) 889-2200.

  • Where/When: 4-8 p.m. on Sat, Dec. 3 at .
  • Why Go: Celebrate different traditions, cultures and faiths this Saturday during this Redmond winter festival, Redmond Lights. The fun starts at City Hall Plaza with fun activities, a festive tree lighting, live musical entertainment, and refreshments. Then join in the Luminary Walk between City Hall Plaza and Redmond Town Center. You'll arrive at Redmond Town Center where you can enjoy tastes of complimentary holiday treats, kids’ crafts and entertainment from the community.
  • Pricing: Free.

  • Where/When: 7-9 p.m. on Sun, Dec. 4 at in Redmond..
  • Why Go: Do you love drumming but don't have anyone to jam with? Come out to SoulFood Books this Sunday night for a community drum circle. No experience needed to participate, just heart.
  • Pricing: Free.

  • Where/When: 7-8:30 p.m. on Sun, Dec. 4 at in Redmond.
  • Why Go: Join the Redmond Chorale as they present a sterling assortment of seasonal pieces in a stunning holiday concert this Sunday at Meadowbrook Church.
  • Pricing: Suggested $10 donation. Proceeds benefit Congregations for the Homeless.

  • Where/When: 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at in Redmond.
  • Why Go: Join SecondStory Repertory and the Pacific Northwest Cabaret Association this weekend for a holiday cabaret. The show will feature members of the several members from the PNCA including Victor Janusz, Joanne Klein, Judy Ann Moulton and Arnaldo! Drag Chanteuse. Enjoy the show!
  • Pricing: Tickets are $18 and can be purchased over the phone at (425) 881-6777 or online at www.secondstoryrep.org.

  • Where/When: 7:30 p.m. on Sat, Dec. 3 at .
  • Why Go: Enjoy holiday music, customs and traditions around the world this Saturday with the Master Chorus Eastside as they present The Many Worlds of Christmas. Check out this Youtube clip of the Master Chorus Eastside in action so you’ll know what you’re in for.
  • Pricing: Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students. Children 9 and under get in free.

One of my ex-students, Heather Pressler, a DECA award winner from Inglemoor, is now a PhD candidate in molecular biology back on the East Coast. DECA opens so many doors to success.
