The "go-to" event for family fun, education and "everything pet"

Celebrating pets of all varieties, America's Family Pet Expo Washington (www.petexpowa.org), opens next weekend at the Puyallup Fair and Events Center, November 3-4.

With 1,000 both small and large animals, the Expo is the Northwest's largest pet-focused event with action-packed feature attractions, a big line-up of exhibitors, learning opportunities, contests and more. It's also a one-stop source of information on the latest trends in pet care and new products from manufacturers and retailers.

Woodinville businesses and organizations participating in this "everything pet" event include Grizzly Pet Products.

Feathered, furry (and not so furry) animals splash and strut their stuff in multiple demonstration areas, including Splash Dogs, sponsored by NutriSource, as high-flying  canines make waves with their jumping skills; Jump! The Ultimate Dog Show, sponsored by The IAMS Company, showcasing action-packed stunts; the Adoption Dog Makeovers and Fashion Show; FeatherDance - Dancing with Friesians; the Avian Actors of Hollywood, and many more.

Reptilian pets continue to grow in popularity and expert Corbin Maxey shares information about these fascinating animals. Emphasizing education and responsible pet ownership for over a decade, the twenty-two-year-old has appeared on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," and "The Today Show."

"Finned friends" are spotlighted at the all-new Aquatic Experience, offering through-the-glass underwater views of saltwater and freshwater fish and plants from around the world.

Children ages 5-16 are invited to participate in the Kid's Aquarium Contest, with the colorful entries on display in the ShowPlex during the two-day Expo.  This unique learning opportunity provides participants with a 10-gallon heated aquarium kit to take home--with the children adding their own fish and unique decorations. Hello Mr. Francois and NSD School Board, I have been keeping an open mind about the choice ofRead More Wednesday as the early release day. I kept an open mind, but not so open that my brains fell out. I voted for Friday for a reason. Not to take my child out of school early or in hopes that teachers would see it as a day off, but because it made the most sense for my family. Wednesday wasn't a horrible day and was my 2nd choice. Personally, now, after reviewing others input, your input and doing some thinking on my own, I believe you made the wrong choice. Your parents have brains, we are educated and we gave you our opinion and trusted that you would actually use the poll data wisely. You failed us, therefore you failed our children. It is okay so say you made a mistake, that is what we teach our children. Please tell your parents you made a mistake and make Friday early release day for the new school year. Positively hopeful! I have lived in Woodinville for over18 years. For around 5 years after we moved there on any warmRead More summer night you could look up and see at least 3 balloons and many times 4,5,6 or 7 of them but that all stopped abruptly one year. The explanation we got was that the balloonist were following the French historical practice of awarding a bottle of champagne to any land owner who's land they happened to land on. Well, the state couldn't allow that since the balloonist had no liquor license. Don't you just love government?
