Concessions Coming to Woodinville Fields Starting Saturday

Starting Dec. 8, hot dogs, bratwursts, and other foods and beverages will be sold at the Woodinville Sports Fields.

Starting Saturday, Dec. 8, G&G Dogs of Woodinville will begin selling hot dogs, bratwursts, and other foods and beverages, at the Woodinville Sports Fields.

In addition to its usual fare, G&G plans to have a variety of food and beverages for athletes and spectators including coffee, locally baked goods, and breakfast sandwiches.

The company prides itself in providing locally produced, fresh food for its patrons.

“We give our customers the expectation that they will receive the same quality service the first time they visit us or the 20th time they visit us. That’s why our tag line is ‘A Smile in Every Bite’,” said Stephen DeCourcy, owner of G&G Dogs.

In September, the city solicited proposals from mobile food vendors for the opportunity to sell food and beverages at the sports fields as an amenity to both field users and citizens in the downtown area. Depending on the success of the new concessions sales, there may be opportunities for additional food offerings in the future.

The fields can be rented out on an hourly basis, and are available day and evening, rain or shine. Call 425.489.2700 for rental rates and scheduling information, or view the Field schedule online at http://www.ci.woodinville.wa.us/Play/FacilityRentals.asp

While I've not noticed the symptoms, a group from the Society of Ecological Restoration (botanists,Read More biologists, landscape professionals) spent a day studying the the restorations of the riverbanks at Woodin Creek, Wilmot and the mouth of Little Bear Creek about 8 years ago. It was pretty much consensus that the Poplars were nearing the end of their life and would soon be hazardous. People get sentimental about cutting trees, but this is a highly populated trail with parks. It's easy to see how even one of these trees falling could cause a fatality. Further, if the Poplars are cut down then the younger native trees (such as the cedars and Doug Firs) that were planted over the years during restoration efforts, will have more "room to grow". But, the wood from the poplars will need to be moved out quickly as this is a non-native that will "sprout". If the Poplars are taken out then Woodin Park will not be so closed in and people will finally notice the ecological & aesthetic value of that land. Hopefully some public safety person will read this and consider acting to prevent harm. It is time for these trees to be taken down before they hurt people. They have already been memorialized in the art of Deb Crawford (which can be see at Apple Farm Village). They are not that valuable to the critters. Native trees should be planted in the fall their place.
