Skyrocketing Salt Sales Good for One Woodinville Business

"Salt samplers, gift sets and collections have always been good sellers, but this year's sales of those products have exploded," said SaltWorks CEO Mark Zoske.

Move over wine and beer, Woodinville is getting saltier.

SaltWorks, Inc., is seeing a booming business – selling ten times more gourmet salts gift sets than forecasted at the beginning of the year, according to a news release from the company. That's contributing to the bottom line in a big way, driving up gross revenues by 40 percent in 2012.

"Gourmet salt collections are the hottest gifts of 2012," said SaltWorks CEO Mark Zoske. "Salt samplers, gift sets and collections have always been good sellers, but this year's sales of those products have exploded."

In January, Zoske and his team completed construction of a new factory in Woodinville, which greatly expanded the company's capacity, and ramped up new product development.

Among SaltWorks' new products: high-end gourmet salt gift sets and collections, all filled in jars with handcrafted corks, labeled and assembled by hand in the company's Woodinville factory. SaltWorks describes themselves as the world's largest supplier of gourmet sea salts.

Thanks to its increased capacity, SaltWorks is continuing to meet demand for gourmet salt gifts through the holidays.

"We are more than just a salt supplier, and people respond to that," Zoske stated. "We have 60 dedicated professionals working in our facility delivering 25 million pounds of salt this year."

SaltWorks was founded in 2001.
