SoulFood Owners to Exit With 'Love and Light'

Clint McCune and Sara Pelfrey have owned and operated the popular Redmond coffee house for seven years.

The owners of SoulFood Books in Redmond plan to turn over the keys to the beloved eclectic store in July.

In a letter sent to members of the store's "tribe," Clint McCune and Sara Pelfrey said that though new owners will take the helm after a brief closure at the beginning of July, they will remain involved to help the new owners, Kevin Oaks and Makia Ensley, make a smooth transition.

Following is the letter sent to customers:

Dear Friends, Family and Community,

It seems like a life time ago that we embarked on an adventure that would take us to worlds we never dreamed of. If anyone would have tried to tell us what we would have experienced, neither one of us would have believed them. With an unparalleled education, Clint and Sara are graduating with honors and starting a new chapter built on this unique journey that has been in the walls of SoulFood .

Many of you know that at our 7 years anniversary we announced there would be new owners taking our place at the beginning of July.  While preparing for this shift we wanted to send out a letter to express our deep gratitude for the community that has been built here and be able give everyone a bit of a understanding on how this change will look.

Through out the rest of June, Clint and Sara will still be holding post as owners. On Sunday, June 30, we will be open special hours where we will be serving coffee as the owners for the last time (possibly some live music tossed in for good measure). We want to invite all of you to come down to celebrate this new chapter and we can face-to-face express our gratitude for all of the support you have shown us over the years.

On Monday, July 1 through Thursday, July 4th,  SoulFood will be closed for inventory and some maintenance.  On Friday (if all goes to plan) SoulFood will reopen her doors. You will still see all the familiar faces you are used to seeing (including Clint and Sara) with Kevin Oaks and Makia Ensley at the helm.

We are staying a part of SoulFood to help transition this amazing community space until the end of December. This will ensure that no stories will be left untold, nothing will be overlooked, and it will be smooth sailing. We both are deeply invested in this incredible community and how it continually makes such a positive change in this world.

On that note, both of us will be working extensively within the neighborhood on different projects that will continue the heart of what SoulFood is all about. If you are interested in following some of those projects or being involved, you can sign up for a newsletter HERE. This newsletter will be full of the upcoming festivals, concerts, tours & collaborations that Clint will be playing in and the other projects both of us will be working on.

There is no way that either one of us can express how incredibly beloved you are to us. There is also no way to express how excited we are to see SoulFood go through this beautiful change! Thank you all for your belief in community and its ability to make the world a better place.

In love and light

Clint and Sara
