What's at The Woodinville Farmers Market This WeeK? Aug. 27

First Zestar!™ apples of the season and pulled pork sandwiches.

Whitney Farm will be bringing their Zestar!™  apples to the Woodinville Farmers Market this week. Zestar!™apples are just coming in to season, according to Washington Sate Univeristy Extension website. Cultivated by the University of Minnesota to be both sweet and tart, Zestar!™ is touted as being great for pies, tarts, or just eating out of hand.  This early season variety is not as sweet as a Honey Crisp which will be harvested later in the season, according to Michael Charlton, market president.

“Of course we will still have fruit, and lots of veggies as this is the heart of the harvest season and just about the best time to experience the incredible flavors ripe veggies produce,” he added.

Also this week is stepping it up a bit from its regular menu.  Since the beginning of summer, Kolander has been cooking hamburgers and hot dogs to pair with their BBQ sauces. This week they will be putting the burgers aside and serving pulled pork sandwiches.  Sean plans to start smoking the pork Saturday morning before the market opens so customers can take advantage of the fresh cooked pork.

The  is on 133rd Avenue NE, right beside City Hall. The farmers market is Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Fall.
