What's at Woodinville Farmers Market This Week?

In addition to the flowers, food and crafts, you can now buy organic seed at the market.

Strolling through the bounty of a farmers market often inspires people to grow their own food. Thecan help with that.

At the market this week is an entire line of organic seed available at the market’s information booth.  In an effort to help support local farmers markets, MadAboutGardening.com has partnered with the Washington State Farmers Market Association to create a specialty line of locally harvested, organic farmers markets seeds that can be sold by markets as an additional source of revenue.

MadAboutGardening.com provides seed packets and display to the markets with no up-front costs; markets will sell seed packets throughout their season and can keep up to two thirds of the seed packet sales. At the end of the season markets return any unsold seed packets and pay $1 to MadAboutGardening.com for each packet sold.

“We’re selling the seeds for $3 a packet, so you can see that $2 goes directly to supporting the market,” said Michael Charlton, president of the Woodinville Farmers Market.

All the seeds offered in the Farmers Market Seed Program are certified organic, non-GMO and sourced from local, independently owned farmers in the Pacific Northwest.
