Woodinville Blockbuster Video Closing Sunday

The movie rental store has stopped renting but is selling its stock.

Blockbuster Video, once one of the giants of the retail rental business, will close its doors in Woodinville Sunday.

Employees at the store at 14141 NE Woodinville-Duvall Road, were unable to discuss why the store was closing so suddenly and directed all news media to contact corporate owners, DishTV. Patch is still waiting for a response from corporate headquarters.

Blockbuster filed Chapter 11 last year with $1 billion in debt on its books and increasing competition from Redbox and Netflix.

Blockbuster executives told the major Hollywood studios last August that they expected to shutter 500 to 800 of its 3,425 U.S. stores as part of a bankruptcy process that would begin in September, the L.A. Times reported.

In the meantime, if you have a movie out make sure to return it before close of business Sunday.
