Woodinville Whiskey Joins with Hollywood Tavern to Create Destination Complex

Hollywood Tavern and Woodinville Whiskey Co. are building a new production distillery, a larger tasting room, an event space, and an expanded tavern.

“Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whiskey is barely enough.”
― Mark Twain

If you agree with Mark Twain, the following will certainly come as good news.

It's been common knowledge for months that a significantly revamped Hollywood Tavern is coming to Woodinville, but now, they (Seattle-based real estate company Point32 and the Huxley Wallace Collective, founded by restaurateur and street food pioneer Josh Henderson of Skillet fame,) are joining forces with Woodinville Whiskey Co.

The two are in the midst of creating a destination complex in the area that Chateau Ste. Michelle, Columbia Winery and Redhook Brewery all call home.

The Hollywood’s red neon “TAVERN” sign will remain, but the property at 14508 Woodinville Redmond Rd NE, is getting a major facelift from Graham Baba Architects: a new production distillery, larger tasting room, and “Barrel Loft” event space for Woodinville Whiskey, and an expanded tavern space for Executive Chef Angie Roberts’  “wine country farm cuisine.”

Her menu will include such items as house-ground classic cheeseburgers on buttered, toasted milk rolls, spit-roasted local meats, and house-made pasta. The inspiration for catering is simplicity, with authentic technique and ingredients: Think whole roast pigs with salsa verde, whole-grain salads with roasted artichokes, seasonal house-made soft-serve ice cream (yes, kids will be welcome in the dining room and patio), and whiskey flights.

A large outdoor patio will provide an applewood rotisserie grill, a fire pit, and horseshoe pits for catering, special events, and private parties held in the distillery building.

Point32 purchased the property in 2012 with the intention of preserving the site’s agri-industrial character.

“Right away, we all knew the direction this special old place wanted to go,” said Point32’s Matt Kellogg in a news release.

The new distillery will allow Woodinville Whiskey to quadruple production capacity and provide a more interactive tour space. Woodinville Whiskey co-founder Orlin Sorensen is also touting a "very exciting product coming to coincide with the opening of the new distillery."

As for the opening dates, they are aiming for October for Hollywood Tavern and Nov. 1 for Woodinville Whiskey.
