Why its Good to Have a Plan C for Date Night

Sometimes you need to have two or three backup options when you're planning a date night together. Last weekend, we had to be a little creative.

Plan A was Snoqualmie Falls, but we couldn't leave our kids for that long.

Plan B was a bonfire on the beach in Mukilteo. Kudos to Hubby for this brilliant idea. I was excited when he texted it to me earlier that morning.

"LOVE it!" I texted him back.

After a long spell of rain, it had actually been dry all day Friday. It's about time, I thought to myself as visions of Hubby and I cuddling by a warm fire filled my imagination.

I had my clothes picked out and was just setting up to make some hot cocoa for the trip when I heard that familiar sound.

Cautiously walking into our kitchen, hoping I was wrong, I looked up at the skylight.

"Is it raining?"

"Yes.....why?" My twelve-year-old looked back at me, confused.

"Crap. Daddy and I were going to go to Mukilteo and build a fire by the water for date night."

"Oh...bummer." Clearly she was not as concerned as I was.

"What are we going to do?" I asked Hubby when we sat down to eat dinner.

"I don't know. Do you have any ideas?"

"How about a bookstore?" I suggested.

He got that pained look on his face like he gets when he's just had a dental procedure.

"A bookstore?"
