  • Where/When: 12-5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, in the Woodinville Warehouse District.
  • Why Go: The warehouse wineries in Woodinville will be opening their doors and introduducing you to "Crush" this Saturday. Choose from a number of food vendors and enjoy your lunch while you walk around the area and taste exciting wines while watching the birth of a new vintage.  Winemakers and staff will be on hand to answer questions and share their insights on the winemaking process.
  • Cost: Admission is free but regular tasting room fees apply at each winery.

  • Where/When: 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, at in Woodinville.
  • Why Go:  October is a great month to assess your garden and focus on an area that needs special attention. Whether you have a new garden, an overgrown established garden, or a specific area that needs updating and renovating, a landscape designer can be very helpful.  Meet and speak with  representatives from a few local, hand-selected landscape design companies in a friendly, no-pressure environment. Connect with experts, hear about their specialties and learn what they can do for you. No appointment necessary.

  • Where/When: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the .
  • Why Go: It's the time for the annual used book sale at the Sammamish Library. Walk out with a bagful of books, CDs, magazines and the occasional signed first edition. 
  • Pricing: Funds from the book sales will help the FRIENDS of the Sammamish Library sponsor future events as well as go toward furnishings and other needs at the Sammamish Library. 

 

  • Where/When: 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, at .
  • Why Go: The Eastside Symphony opens its season with a Young Soloist Concert featuring two very talented young soloists, Stella Perlic and Audrey Chen. They will be joined by the Light Cavalry Overture and music from the great Russian composer, Glinka. Enjoy the show!
  • Cost: Tickets range between $7 and $12.

 

  • Where/When: 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Redmond Pool.
  • Why Go:  Jump into Redmond Pool’s 1st Annual Pumpkin Patch! Swim right up to your favorite pumpkin and then help it back to the pool deck. After you’ve rescued it from the water, stay and enjoy open swim until it’s time to take your pumpkin home to carve it!
  • Cost: Cost is $7 per child; parents are welcome to swim with their children at no cost.

 

  • Where/When: 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, at in Redmond.
  • Why Go:  Put on your costume and join PCC Natural Markets for a morning of pumpkin decorating. PCC will supply the pumpkins and all decorating materials, kids only need to bring their imaginations. Enjoy healthy Halloween treats too.
  • Cost: Free for kids 12 and under.

 

  • Where/When: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at the .
  • Why Go: There's a new exhibit opening at the Rosalie Whyel Museum of Doll Art this Saturday. The focus of On the Streets of Merry Olde England is on historic royal figures. Everyone from Queen Elizabeth I to King George V will be represented. Come interact with them and feel for yourself the lure of famous royal leaders from the past.
  • Cost: Adults: $10; Seniors: $9; Children (5-17): $5; Children (4 & under): Free.

 

  • Where/When: 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, at .
  • Why Go: The connection 38 cities in Washington share with counterparts in Japan will be celebrated to the beat of taiko drums at a Sister Cities conference in Bellevue on Oct. 21. The conference will kick off with a dinner reception from 6 to 9 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 21, in the concourse of City Hall. Performers will include Seattle Kokon Taiko, the Kabuki Academy and dancer Michaela Kusumi. Featured speakers will be Japanese Consul General Kiyokazu Ota and KING 5 News television anchor Lori Matsukawa.
  • Cost: Tickets are $60, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the BSCA. Register.

 

  • Where/When: 9-11 a.m. on Sat, Oct. 22 in St. Andrew’s Ballroom at The Golf Club at Newcastle.
  • Why Go: The Eastside Candidate Forum is pleased to offer an opportunity for the community to meet the regional candidates for Washington state offices of governor and attorney general.  Rob McKenna and Jay Inslee, candidates for governor, along with Reagan Dunn and Bob Ferguson, candidates for attorney general, will all speak at the forum.
