Woodinville Patch Facebook Race: 1,000 ‘Likes’

Our Patch colleagues in the Eastern United States are crowing about 1,000 likes are their Patch Facebook pages, let’s show ‘em how the west was won! And then there’s Kirkland and Redmond Patch!

Woodinville Patch is on a mission: Get more than 1,000 "Likes" on our Facebook page by the end of June to rival our Patch sites in the East who have been crowing in Patchland about how many "Likes" they have.

If it were just the Easterners, well, sheesh, that noise we could block out. But while sipping coffee with our colleagues at Kirkland Patch and Redmond Patch, a gauntlet was dropped, to see which of us could reach that 1,000 mark first.

It must be Woodinville.

Let’s show those upstarts in the east and on our border that Woodinville is far more plugged-in and social media savvy than they are.

Bragging rights not enough of an incentive to "Like" Woodinville Patch on Facebook? Here are five reasons.

1) Real-time Updates About News

Remember when because of a bear sighting? That was first reported on our Facebook page. We regularly update the page with news and notes from the community that don't always make it to the Patch website. Stay in the know!

2) You Help Create the Conversation

Big or small stories generate important conversations in our communities. There is something about Facebook that makes is seem like your sitting around talking with your friends. Woodinville’s Facebook page often has conversations that never make it onto the website.

3) Keep Your Neighbors Informed

When folks have questions (like where to buy Girl Scout cookies), road closings and more, they turn to each other on our Facebook page to get answers. Let's help keep each other informed.

4) Stay Connected With Neighbors and Readers

At Patch, it's not always about breaking news. Sometimes we just like a great conversation — like when I asked a week ago if anyone else noticed it was really quiet on Facebook, it sparked a great conversation.

5) Extended Photo Galleries

We want more ways to showcase events and gatherings in Woodinville, our Facebook page is a great place for the community to do that.

And of course, the undying gratituted of your Woodinville Patch staff.

Are you taking into consideration for population size? Kirkland has almost 80,000 residents, Redmond has 54,000, and little Woodinville is not even 11,000. So if we calculated based on percentages, I would say Woodinville Patch has the most Likes :)

I have lived in Woodinville for over18 years. For around 5 years after we moved there on any warmRead More summer night you could look up and see at least 3 balloons and many times 4,5,6 or 7 of them but that all stopped abruptly one year. The explanation we got was that the balloonist were following the French historical practice of awarding a bottle of champagne to any land owner who's land they happened to land on. Well, the state couldn't allow that since the balloonist had no liquor license. Don't you just love government?
