Woodinville Patch Facebook Race: 332 'Likes' From Victory

And the race is on with Woodinville ahead of the competition with Kirkland and Redmond, but the race is not won until we reach 1,000 'Likes' on Facebook.

It all started last week with those upstart editors in the Eastern United States flaunting in emails about how many . Then, the editors at Kirkland Patch and Redmond Patch brazenly claimed they would make it to 1,000 'Likes' before Woodinville Patch's Facebook page would.

Ha! We don't think so. As reader  pointed out, Kirkland and Redmond have much larger populations than Woodinville, so it would make sense that they could get to 1,000 before we would. Ah, but those other editors underestimate the greatness of the Woodinville community.

Guess what? As of Monday morning, Kirkland had 540 'Likes', while Redmond is at 464, and Woodinville has pulled into the lead at 668 'Likes'.

The race is on until we reach 1,000 'Likes' or until July 1, whichever comes first. We at Woodinville Patch are proud of the work we do, but we are not too proud to beg. So, please, tell you friends, neighbors, and frenemies to 'Like' Woodinville Patch's Facebook page.

What will you, dear reader, get out of the deal besides the undying gratitude of the Woodinville Patch staff? Here are the benefits:

1) Real-time Updates About News

Remember when  because of a bear sighting? That was first reported on our Facebook page. We regularly update the page with news and notes from the community that don't always make it to the Patch website. Stay in the know!

2) You Help Create the Conversation

Big or small stories generate important conversations in our communities. There is something about Facebook that makes is seem like your sitting around talking with your friends. Woodinville’s Facebook page often has conversations that never make it onto the website.

3) Keep Your Neighbors Informed

When folks have questions (like where to buy Girl Scout cookies), road closings and more, they turn to each other on our Facebook page to get answers. Let's help keep each other informed.

4) Stay Connected With Neighbors and Readers

At Patch, it's not always about breaking news. Sometimes we just like a great conversation — like when I asked a week ago if anyone else noticed it was really quiet on Facebook, it sparked a great conversation.

5) Extended Photo Galleries

We want more ways to showcase events and gatherings in Woodinville, our Facebook page is a great place for the community to do that.
