Woodinville Patch Facebook Race: 688 and Climbing

Help us get to 700 by Monday and 1,000 soon after, Kirkland and Redmond are nipping at our heels.

The Woodinville Patch Facebook page is at 688 “Likes” and we are grateful, but the race is not won, we need to reach 1,000 to beat Kirkland Patch and Redmond Patch.

Woodinville must prevail, sure we’re smaller in population than Kirkland and Redmond, but we are mightier in community spirit.

So help us make it to 700 "Likes" by Sunday, July 1 and 1,000 “Likes” (similar to 1,000 points of light only all you have to do is click a button) to show up those Easterners ().

Ask everyone you talk with to show their Woodinville pride by liking the Woodinville Patch Facebook page.

It’s like harassing your friends and neighbors to buy Girl Scout cookies from you daughter, only without the chocolaty goodness of Thin Mints. And a special shout out to those who quickly “Liked” the page last Saturday night so I could sleep nightmare free. You see, I had just watched a scary movie and before heading to bed checked how where we were at on the page, it was at 666, I knew I’d never sleep with that apocalyptic number hanging over my head.

What will you, dear reader, get out of the deal besides the undying gratitude of the Woodinville Patch staff? I will mow your grass for a year (no, I really won’t—way too lazy. Plus offering a reward would constitute a prize, which would mean a contest and send the legal department into apoplexy).

Here are the true benefits:

1) Real-time Updates About News

Remember when  because of a bear sighting? That was first reported on our Facebook page. We regularly update the page with news and notes from the community that don't always make it to the Patch website. Stay in the know!

2) You Help Create the Conversation

Big or small stories generate important conversations in our communities. There is something about Facebook that makes it seem like your sitting around talking with your friends. Woodinville’s Facebook page often has conversations that never make it onto the website, come be a part of them.

3) Keep Your Neighbors Informed

When folks have questions (like where to buy Girl Scout cookies), road closings and more, they turn to each other on our Facebook page to get answers. Let's help keep each other informed.

4) Stay Connected With Neighbors and Readers

At Patch, it's not always about breaking news. Sometimes we just like a great conversation — like when I asked a week ago if anyone else noticed it was really quiet on Facebook, it sparked a great conversation.

5) Extended Photo Galleries

We want more ways to showcase events and gatherings in Woodinville, our Facebook page is a great place for the community to do that.
