To all fellow Woodinville residents: I think we should NOT vote for this ridiculous tax that pretty much goes towards high paying salary and benefits of the district. An average cost of an employee of this fire department was $142K in 2011 (per the numbers in their 2011 annual report on their website). We simply can't afford to continue subsidizing or paying for mismanagement of our hard earned tax dollars. It seems that the largest bucket of monies is tied up in contractual agreement with the Firefighter's union which appears to have become more generous over the years with automatic pay increases and zero concessions. My comparative basis is the 2013 budget (also posted on the same website) where average pay and benefits package is $149K per employee. This is the right time to DENY this special tax so the Fire commissioners are forced to work with the Firefighter's union to come up with a more reasonable pay and benefit package. With majority of the tax dollars spent in this category, pay and benefits seem to be most obvious place to start. Denial of this tax will also force the Firefighter's union to compromise and offer some concessions to the tax payers.
