Community Corner

Evening Vigil for Japan Woodinville Unitarian Universalist Church

A non-denominational vigil open to all in the community who wish to share a moment of restorative thoughts for our Pacific Ocean neighbors.

"The earthquake and tsunami in Japan and the threat of a widespread nuclear accident is hard to know how to respond to" writes WUUC's Rev. Lois Van Leer. "It is amazing to me how many folks in our community have direct ties to family or friends in Japan."

"For some of us," Van Leer continues, "in the aftermath of such a crisis, there is a need to gather in community to mourn, to meditate, to hope, to pray- just to be together."

The Buddhist Meditation group which meets regularly on Wednesday evenings at WUUC has generously offered to host any who want to join them in lighting candles and silent meditation as a response to what has happened in Japan. Rev. Van Leer also invites any who wish to do so to bring flowers as an offering of hope and beauty in the midst of tragedy.
Please come as close to 7 p.m. as possible but all are welcome to come and leave at any time from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m..
