Watoto Children's Choir in Concert

Woodinville Community United Methodist Church is pleased to host the Watoto Children's Choir of Uganda on September 30, 2011.

Watoto is an holistic care program that was initiated as a response to the overwhelming number of orphaned children and vulnerable women in Africa, whose lives have been ravaged by war, poverty and disease – particularly HIV/AIDs.

In sub-Saharan Africa, the HIV/AIDS pandemic has orphaned more than 14 million children (UNAIDS Global Facts & Figures 2008). According to World Hunger Facts 2009, 11 million children die each year before their 5th birthday.  Watoto is positioned to rescue an individual, raise each one as a leader in their  chosen sphere of life so that they in turn will rebuild their nation.

Since 1994, Watoto children’s choirs have toured internationally as ambassadors for Watoto. The vision and mission are presented through music and dance, which is an energetic fusion of contemporary gospel and traditional African rhythm.
These ‘Concerts of Hope’ are a lively demonstration of the life-changing love experienced by the children of Watoto. The experience benefits the children academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually and is designed to train and
equip them as future leaders.
