Plaintiff Says "Teacher of the Year" Is Incompetent

Some interesting information has come to light, regarding the claims made in Vergara v. California about “grossly ineffective teachers”.  Remember, this information was presented at the trial and the judge saw and heard it.

It seems one of the plaintiff named Christine McLaughlin of Blair Middle School as one of those “grossly ineffective teachers”.  Now, everyone’s entitled to their opinion and I do not seek to embarrass the student in question, so I’m not mentioning the student by name.  But some interesting facts were included in the presentations to the judge about this teacher’s efficacy.

It seems that Christine McLaughlin had been selected as Pasadena 2013 Teacher of the Year.  Such awards are given only after some very thorough vetting.  If there was any evidence that McLaughlin was a “grossly ineffective teacher”, it would have come to light during the nomination and vetting process.  Yet, the Vergara plaintiff maintained the claim that McLaughlin was a “grossly ineffective teacher.”

In a five minute 2013 Rotary Teacher of Excellence video, McLaughlin’s students are heard praising her.  The plaintiff, when asked about that praise, claimed those students can’t be telling the truth, as it conflicts with her own experience.

Oh, and did I mention, McLaughlin was named the NAACP “2008 Star of Education?”
