Join us at the City of Woodinville's Public Hearing about the Park or Send Your Comments!

On Tuesday, February 18th at 7 pm, the City of Woodinville will hold a Public Hearing to gather your input about the SnoCo Parks Department's proposed commercial sports complex for Wellington Hills Park. This hearing will take place at Woodinville City Hall, 17301 133rd Ave NE, Woodinville - in the Council Chambers.

Please come and speak up for our community! The commercial sports complex is an oversized tournament facility that just won't fit the Wellington Hills Park site.

  • Clearing, levelling and grading nearly 50 acres of green space, rolling hills and giant trees.
  • 7 fields, 4 of which would be turf; their construction would create huge water run-off problems and soil instability - like the Primus wall.
  • As many parking spaces as Costco.
  • Stadium lights like Starfire, on til 10 pm.
  • Traffic during extended operating hours all year round, clogging up all routes to the Complex, making your drive to downtown Woodinville ANYTHING but normal.
  • A giant septic system for all these visitors, raising big concerns about its adequacy and the need to bring sewer lines to this rural area.

The City of Woodinville is doing the right thing - raising concerns about this grossly inappropriate design for a rural area. Please come and speak up.

If you can't attend the meeting, you can email comments to: citycouncil@ci.woodinville.wa.us or mail them to:

Comments will be accepted via email or mail up to and at the hearing on Tuesday, February 18th.

This is a link to the staff reports provided to the City of Woodinville. The letters commenting on the LDA permit and proposed Master Plan for the sports complex identify serious reasons why the current Plan is inappropriate for Wellington Hills Park, and issues to watch in any proposal for this site. Please look at the comments -- the City of Woodinville is very concerned about the potential problems that the Parks Department design would cause.

Please note - we're not against soccer or sports fields. We would love to see the fields designed for a more appropriate flat commercial site where participants could easily access them and enjoy the experience.

Snohomish County simply needs to complete Wellington Hills Park as a Community Park, and put the sports fields in a better location.
