Bellevue Police Looking for Two-Year-Old Boy Missing from Car

The mother of Sky Metalwala, 2, told Bellevue police that she left the boy in her car when she and her four-year-old went to get help after she ran out of gas in the 2400 block of 112th Avenue NE Sunday morning. The family is reportedly from Kirkland.

Bellevue police officers are looking for a two-year old boy who went missing from a car in the 2400 block of 112th Ave NE Sunday morning, according to a Bellevue Police Department press release.

The boy's mother told officers that she ran out of gas at this location and took her four-year-old with her to go get help and left the two-year-old in the car, according to the release.

Approximately an hour later she returned to the vehicle and the baby was gone, the press release said.

She called police around 9:50 a.m., about an hour after she initially left her car, which was described as an older silver Acura, said Bellevue police spokeswoman Officer Carla Iafrate.

The boy's mother had parked her car in an area that is close to Interstate 405 on the east side and with businesses, a residential neighborhood and a wooded area on the other side of the road, Iafrate said.

"It's really complicating the search," she said. "You've got the wooded area, you've got the complex and you've got the homes."

Iafrate said that the car didn't appear to be broken into.

"We're investigating all options," she said.

The family is reportedly from the Kirkland area, Iafrate said.

KOMO 4 news reported Sunday evening that the boy's father is apparently from Kirkland and the mother from Redmond. It reported that the mother told Bellevue police she left the boy secured in his car seat, but with the car doors unlocked.

The child, Sky Metalwala, is half-Indian and half-white, brown eyes, dark buzz cut hair, with a dark green hooded sweatshirt, with blue and gray striped Carter pants. The attached picture is exactly what he is wearing when he went missing, according to the police.

A reverse 9-1-1 call has been placed out in the area where the child was last seen. King County Search and Rescue tracking dogs are on scene searching for the child. If anyone finds or sees a child matching this description, please call 9-1-1 immediately.
