A King County Sheriff's deputy fired a gun at an adult man Thursday morning on NE Woodinville-Duvall Road just east of Mink Road NE, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

No one was injured in the incident.

According to the Sheriff's Office, drivers had reported a man waving and brandishing a handgun at passing cars shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday near Cottage Lake. The first deputy arrived at the scene and encountered the man, who ignored commands and reportedly pulled out what appeared to be a black handgun from his waistband, raising the gun.

The deputy fired several shots and the man dropped to the ground. He was taken into custody and it was determined that he had not been struck or injured during the incident. Deputies then determined the gun was made out of Legos, according to The Seattle Times. Sheriff's officials sent photos of the toy gun on Friday and said, "the deputy would have no way of knowing that it was not a real gun from the distance."

The man is a resident of a nearby group home for developmentally disabled adults. He was taken into custody and involuntarily committed for a mental-health evaluation, The Times report said.
