Gerry Vucci Leaves Fire Commission

July 16 meeting marked Vucci's last act as a member of the Board of Fire Commissioners.

Woodinville fire commissioner Gerry Vucci announced at the July 16 meeting of the Woodinville Board of Fire Commissioners that he is leaving his position. The Monday meeting was his last with the commission.

Vucci's resignation became necessary after he accepted a new position that comes with a residency requirement. That new residency will be outside of the Woodinville fire district.

Geoffrey Olson, President of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2099, issued this statement concerning Vucci's resignation.

"Commissioner Vucci first joined the Woodinville BOFC during a time of incredible difficulty and was committed to making positive changes in the fire district. In spite of the ongoing tensions between labor and administration, reductions in the number of firefighters, and the closure of the Kingsgate fire station, Commissioner Vucci remained committed to returning the fire district's priorities back to providing fire and emergency services to the community. He will be missed."

Vucci took his position with the board of commissioners in August of last year after then-commissioner Randy Ransom resigned for health reasons.
