UPDATE: Police Call Off K-9 Track of Burglary Suspect Near Maltby

The suspect is believed to be a 37-year-old Everett man and fled on foot along power lines in the York Road area of Maltby. He had attempted to burglarize a home in Bothell.

UPDATE, May 20, 12:15 p.m.: The search for a burglary suspect in the Maltby area Monday has been called off, with police saying it appears he escaped on a bicycle.

An updated news release by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said that schools in the York Road area of Maltby had been locked down, but that the lock down has been lifted.

The suspect was identified using images taken during a burglary attempt, and he is believed to be a 37-year-old Everett man.

Police with a K-9 team were tracking a suspect in the York Road area of Maltby Monday morning after the man allegedly was interrupted while burglarizing a Bothell home and then hit a motorcyclist while fleeing in a car.

The motorcyclist was not injured after the suspect apparently hit him in the 4300 block of 229th Pl SE, said Shari Ireton, spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect then abandoned the vehicle, a black Audi, in the 18400 block of 59th Ave SE and fled on foot along a power line maintenance road.

He is believed to be a 37-year-old Everett man, and Ireton said he was interrupted by a homeowner while burglarizing a residence in the 4400 block of 230th Pl SE in Bothell. That’s about 2.5 miles north of Woodinville.
