Kirkland MD Gets Probation After Affair With Patient's Spouse, Drug Issues

A state order says the obstetrician who worked at a clinic near Evergreen until May 2010 improperly prescribed herself pain medication.

A physician who worked at a private women's health center in Kirkland has had her license placed on probation for entering a personal relationship with the spouse of a patient and improperly prescribing pain medication.

The state Department of Health's Medical Quality Assurance Commission last month put Susan J. Eagan’s license on probation for three years, fined her $5,000 and required her to seek psychiatric treatment and attend ethics training.

According to the order, which she agreed to and signed (attached here in a PDF file), while working as an obstetrician at the , Eagan provided prenatal care and delivered the baby of a patient in December 2009. Shortly after, Eagan began a relationship with the patient's spouse, who began staying at her residence and lived there beginning in March 2010.

The order also states that Eagan prescribed the patient’s spouse the medication Perocet (oxycodone and acetaminophen) in January and March 2010 without keeping records, and with the help of a medical assistant improperly prescribed herself the drug Vicoprofen (hydrocodone and ibuprofen) in April 2010.

The order states that Eagan worked at the Center for Women’s Health from May 2008 to May 2010. Kirkland Patch has left message’s with one of the owners of the Center for Women’s Health in an attempt to contact Eagan and will update this story with any response.
