Dorney is a longtime Woodinville resident who is retired from Bellevue Fire Department after a 35 year career. He was one of four candidates who submitted their names for consideration for the open position. Dorney will serve out Miller’s term which expires at the end of 2013.

The Board of Commissioners interviewed three of the four applicants at the June 4 meeting. The fourth applicant could not attend but the board informed those in attendance that each applicant submitted written responses to a set of questions and the absent candidate would be considered for the position. After meeting in executive session to discuss the qualifications of each candidate, the board reconvened and voted unanimously to appoint Dorney. Dorney was then sworn in by Board Chair Tim Osgood.
