At this time the Edmonds man is in surgery for his injuries. His current condition is unknown.
An officer-involved shooting occurred in Bothell early Friday afternoon, according to police.
A 68-year-old Edmonds man was shot by police and taken to Harborview Medical Center for Treatment. No officers were injured in the incident and police are not saying at this time who shot the man or how many shots were fired.
The incident began in Edmonds at about 1:30 p.m. when a woman called police concerned that her husband was suicidal and leaving the house with a gun, according to Everett Police Officer Aaron Snell, who is also the public information officer with the Snohomish Multi Agency Reponse Team (SMART).
Officers were able to locate the man, who was in a silver GMC Sierra, at State Route 104 near Interstate 5 but when they tried to initiate a stop, he did not comply, Snell said.
Police from Edmonds, Bothell and Mountlake Terrace eventually became involved in pursuing the man and used spike sticks on State Route 522 in Bothell to slow the man down, according to Snell. The sticks reportedly worked, prompting the man to drive the damaged vehicle down 96th Avenue NE near Wayne Golf Course in Bothell, just north of Kirkland.
It was there, Snell said, that multiple shots were fired and the man was shot. He said it was unkown at this time if the man had attempted to leave the vehicle or if he had a gun.
Three officers, one from Edmonds, one from Bothell and one from Mountlake Terrace, are being interviewed about the incident.
KOMO reports that at least seven shots were fired into a pickup.
